Dr Elfy Payero-Gonzalez. MD

Menopause care

At Payero Family Medicine we understand that perimenopause, menopause and post menopause are natural life transitions, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. We offer compassionate, personalized care to help you manage symptoms and maintain a high quality of life. We provide both FDA-approved hormonal and non-hormonal treatments tailored to your unique needs.

What We Offer:

  • Comprehensive Menopause Evaluation: We begin with a thorough assessment of your symptoms, health history, and personal goals. This helps us develop a treatment plan that’s right for you.

  • FDA-Approved Hormonal Treatments:
We offer hormone replacement therapy (HRT) using FDA-approved medications to relieve common menopause symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings. Hormonal treatments can help restore balance and support overall well-being during this time.

  • Non-Hormonal Treatment Options:
For those who prefer non-hormonal options or are not candidates for HRT, we provide a variety of safe, effective treatments to alleviate menopause symptoms, including:
    • Prescription medications to manage hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and mood changes.
    • Lifestyle guidance on diet, exercise, and stress management to improve energy, mental clarity, and sleep.

  • Personalized Care: Menopause is not one-size-fits-all. We work closely with you to adjust treatment as needed and provide continuous support throughout your journey.

Who Might Not Be a Good Candidate for Hormone Replacement Therapy?

While HRT is effective for many women, it is not suitable for everyone. You may not be a good candidate for HRT if you have any of the following conditions:

  • History of breast cancer or certain types of hormone-sensitive cancers.
  • Blood clotting disorders or a history of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism, or stroke.
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure or heart disease.
  • Liver disease or liver dysfunction.
  • Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding (we may recommend further evaluation).
  • Active gallbladder disease or gallstones.
  • History of blood clots (thrombophilia).

If you fall into any of these categories, we’ll discuss alternative treatment options that are safer for your individual health needs.

Insurance Coverage & Payment Options

We strive to make care as accessible as possible. Our menopause services might be covered by some major insurance plans, including those that cover both hormonal and non-hormonal treatments. We will work with you to verify your benefits and ensure that your treatment is covered by your plan. For those without insurance or those who prefer not to use insurance, we also offer cash-pay options at affordable rates. We believe in transparency, so we will provide a clear breakdown of costs upfront and work with you to find a solution that fits your budget.
